Hello All,
I've wired in an IP Engineering speed controller into an Essel Chassi'd Freelance Diesel outline Tram loco. I have a very suitably sized battery pack an charger from a cheap R/C Tank available to use. However it is 9.6v 1000mAh. Would this be too much for the Transistor in the kit. The Instructions I have don't mention Max Voltage. The Chip is bolted to some brass sheet, part of the bodywork, as a heatsink. Hope someone can help, Thanks.

Either ring Ivan (IP Engineering) or alternatively look closely at the tranny and quote the number of the device. Then look it up on the net and the data sheet will provide all of the information that you seek and probably more.
