Hi Guys
Recently the odd thread has sadly indicated the appalling service provided by certain manufacturers and suppliers to it must be said the bog enteral detriment of the hobby. A truly sad state of affairs.
I thought that a recent experience of mine this morning might show the other side of this particular coin. Some years ago, (quite a lot actually) I purchased a very cheap and cheerful little bench saw, which has stood the test of time and suffered a lot of general use (not to mention outright abuse) out in the workshop, mainly slitting down miniature planking strips for both model boat and train modelling purposes. The many times resharpened blade finally now being well beyond the further use required, I expected to spend a small fortune on a new saw as the original unit has long been phased out.
Imagine my surprise, when just on the off chance I rang the original supplier this morning to find that the long obsolete little saw is still supported to the extent that they still have the blades in stock. So an order of three new ones at £2.54 each is winging its way and no doubt the small circular saw will now last longer than I. The supplier of the little saw and blades was MFA Como, who no longer list the blades in stock but still carry them for the long redundant item.
I will admit to regularly using MFA for my motor/gearbox drive train requirements so their general level of service is no surprise to me, but in this case i was surprised at the level of support for such a low cost item purchased in 1995. An experience that definitely shows the level of support provided by many of our varied modelling hobby suppliers.
Excellent service
