Track powered HGLW loco ?

All HGLW locos are battery powered and run very well.
But my layout is "track powered" (20 volts) and I'm planning to use my HGLW critter with my power supply.
Has anyone made that before?

You're going to have a MAJOR job on your hands, as there's no insulation between the wheels and the axles, meaning that you'd have to re-make them. Do you REALLY want to go to all that trouble? You'll probably have to change the motor, too.........................

The motor is best suited for 3-4.5V so you'll have to turn the track power down really low otherwise the loco will go at warp speed and motor burn out in a matter of minutes.

Not warp speed but a bit fast...... lastics were to keep the cab roof down while the glue dried.

Or fit a four or five (depending on IC used) small component regulator and fit insulated wheels such as those provided by IP engineering. No need for batteries so plenty of room for a small regulator. However you would need to set the reg to suit the controller to provide sufficient control movement to sensibly and easily regulate speed. Lots of ways to do it for minimum cost but easily done if a bit of simple soldering is not too much of a challenge. The problem with running the loco "as is" is that if you put it on the track of course you have a dead short without the wheel change so even battery controlled it will still need insulated wheels to run on a live track.
