Old meets new.

My old "Salem Steam Models SM6" has just had a run-in with modern technology ;)
It's now fitted with the 2.4ghz R/C gubbins from the new Playmobil diesel - here's the test run (one of the shortest videos I've ever done)

That looked quite smooth for what is a kids toy. Made me wonder about another project. Did you use the latest incarnation with the centre cab or one of the older models?

It's from the latest (centre cab) model - a friend had bought the loco to use as another project, so sold the R/C.

It's a MASSIVE improvement over the older Playmobil electrics. 9v for a start, so there's more "oomph".
The transmitter is also very neat, and a lot smaller since it's 2.4ghz ;)

As well as the speed, direction and (muteable) sound, there's directional lighting too - the bi-colour led's are surface mount on the rx boards though, so I'll have to "remote them" at some point in the future ;)
