IP engineering WHR van buffer heights

I have built an IP Eng WHR van. Buffering up to some cooper craft slate wagons there was a discrepancy in buffer height. The real WHR uses 18 inches I think. This gives 24mm as per 16mm Assoc and the cooper crafts.

I'm settling on 24mm so will need to modify the van. The solution seems to be to cut the axle guards off and replace with something smaller.

I'm not too fussy about fine scale but buffer heights need to be standardised.

Now my stuff has arrived from the UK I can check leading dimensions and see where we are at.

Any experience?
