Manual Leader

Post by St.Michael » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:57 pm

I have now run my new Leader for a few weeks, and I think it now have come to an acceptable and slow running performance. As the train has to run up and down gradients I have really been thinking that it must have rc. But I decied that I shall run it manual this season, to see if it can run nicely without rc
I set the gass, and steamthrottle very low and I really enjoy watching it struggle up the gradients. I have also put a center threelinkcoupling-adaptor on it, so it goes together with the rest of my stock ( I got it today, so I just tried it once, but it seems to work perfect)

I get by now, a total runningtime on ca.32-33 min. I run it so slow so it has to stop to rise enough preassure on several places along the line, but I have found out that I like that ;) It gives a varying driving experience.
And so for the obvious question: Are there any clever tricks or hints on how to run and controll a manual loco :?:

Looks nice and I see you've managed to get the pressure down looking at the gauge. I found the gas control wasn't very sensetive or easy to get at when I first got mine.
I ran mine today on a big garden railway track at a model engineering society. She ran just great at a nice scale speed and I think they liked her, great day.
