3D printing health concerns

This report suggests it's a wise precaution to open a window or wear a mask when 3D printing with PLA or ABS. It also found that some filaments are worse than others in terms of emissions. They haven't tested resin printing (yet)

Thanks for this link. I noticed I was getting headaches and generally not feeling great when I was printing in my study without additional ventillation.

I was planning to move the printer to my workshop when the weather improves (and I have emptied the space I made fir it last summer - where does this stuff come from )

The article confirms SWMBO opinion that the printer is detrimental to ones health. Likely to accelerate the move to the shed.

As you can see (and maybe would expect) ABS has more emissions than PLA but some PLAs (eg Eryone white - which I use) are worse than others (eg Sunlu Black).

Very interesting... I had heard ABS required ventilation for fumes, so I had been avoiding it, but it looks like PLA isn't quite as innocent as I had thought! I don't usually hang around the workshop while printing anyway, since having the camera and Octoprint means I can run it from a safe distance.

Anyway, if I'm puttering in the workshop while it's printing, there's a chance I'll trip the circuit breaker and ruin the print! (Wouldn't be the first time.)
