SVL Andrew, in answer to your question about the track, it is important to remember this is on an indoor exhibition layout which a small team (only 3 of us) built about 35 years ago and has done dozens of shows and thousands of miles of journeys before ending its travelling days with me. We had on our team a BR, S&T engineer who, like yourself, was passionate about correct representation of track and operation. He designed, and built, a control system (12v) which incorporated a combined signal, point and track power supply to prevent incorrect loco movements through sections. It was a masterpiece of its time and one which completely baffled me, so now it's gone! However, the track was also designed by him and built from Tenmille parts of brass section rail, plastic chairs and wooden sleepers, which all perform perfectly still.

Thanks fr the information Peter, I wondered if it was tenmille. I would have loved to have seen the control system in full cry - my other huge passion is signalling.

The railway is a credit to all it's creators, please keep the pictures and construction progress reports coming. I need my daily fix!

All the best,

Andrew

Thanks Big Jim, and thanks again for helping out with the return of the Diplock trophy! It's a good job I didn't enter the competition this year as the winner was way ahead interpreting the rules to the limit! I am in deep admiration of the loco with square wheels concept and bow to a superior model maker.
Now I have an idea of what might be expected next year!

I thought I dreamed that it had square wheels. Interesting approach ... 8)

A belated happy birthday from me too - and congratulations on getting hold of a steamer. I've always rather liked Billy..
