The picture I have is of a revolving bunker type (you can see the difference in the back of the loco to a straight sided type).

............... and to give a little more explanation, the bunker rotated whilst the loco was in motion, delivering a constant supply of coal to the fireman - it saved him having to go into the bunker and shovel supplies down to the footplate. I'm fairly certain (though I stand to be corrected) that they didn't have mechanical stokers - the single LNER example may have.

Hello!
Just re-reading your tread LR, to see how you painted your boiler bands - can I check with you how the Trimline's held up to the heat there?
I'm about to paint the bands on my own Russell and happen to have some black Trimline. That'll be much easier than trying to use the lining pen on the bands, but I'm concerned it'll shrink or distort in the heat. That's what happened when I Trimline-d my IP Jane's tanks, although I guess that could've got a fair bit hotter, being externally fired...
Any thoughts appreciated!
Thanks,
Andrew.

The only loco I've seemed to have problems with trimline on boiler bands is the Accucraft Superior. On the Russell and Lady Anne, it seems to have stood up to the heat just fine. Admittedly, not touching them when hot is probably going to help, but I've not seen any issue. I've also well covered the lines in varnish.

Excellent, thanks. Enamel brush-on varnish? Gloss? Satin?laalratty:98286 wrote:The only loco I've seemed to have problems with trimline on boiler bands is the Accucraft Superior. I've got various bits of my Russell rubbed-down and spot-primed ready for spraying later in the week, then it'll be time to put it all back together....
Cheers,
Andrew.
