First try using plasticard - l&b carriage wip

Post by LnBmad » Mon Jul 29, 2013 11:31 pm

So having completed a tenmille kit of a 3rd class lynton and Barnstaple carriage, I began looking at how I could get some more of these beautiful carriages. I'm working with the early livery so the accucraft ones didn't really do much for me. Funds currently don't allow for a grs kit (I'm impatient) so using the kit I've just completed to get the sizes I have begun to build my own from plasticard and stripwood.

Here's where I'm at so far....

Made using 1.5mm plasticard instead of the 1.5mm ply tenmille used. So far it's progressing slowly as I'm learning how best to cut out the windows, but its been a lot of fun and I'm already considering making 2 more :)

Great work, I'll be watching this closely as I intend to do some carriage scratch builds when time permits, sadly not just yet.

Damn difficult to cut but you are making a good job needle files come in handy

Thanks guys. It's more a case of time consuming to cut than difficult. I'm looking at getting some more sides cut using cad and a router. Will see how I get on then.

Still on the shelf with all the parts marked out for the other side. Might get round to it one day.... Or it may become an abandoned shell at the side of the line...

One of the reasons why I mill it rather than laser cutting it.
