Finished though working brakes only apply to one axle and not both.

Thanks Brian brake gear is so complicated when Ive never actually looked underneath to see how they work but Ive used the principles of levers and rods and O level physics to at least achieve one braked axle. At the door does slide open that's the easy bit! No room for a rat inside nor Bob the gorilla either..

Looking at a photo of #99, it looks like an eccentric pushes the lever down on the push rod ends, spreading them, which then apply the brake blocks onto the wheels?

Even one brake block will stop the vehicle rolling away when left standing on it's own, which is the only reason I bothered making working brakes for my 4 wheel stock. I usually figure I'm doing well if three out of four brake blocks is actually doing anything.........

Graeme

Thanks for info and pic. It looks like something acts downward to push the hangers out. I've soldered levers on the rod from the brake lever which in turn activates a cross rod which hold the brake shoes. The small movement on rotation is enough to activate enough friction to stop the wheels of one axle turning.
