So that is my first scratch built loco finished, a Penrhyn Quarry Large Quarry Hunslet. I have really enjoyed building her and for her to win an award is still sinking in. Later in the year I am planning to start work on a batch of these Hunslets using the same features of working regulator and reverser to control the speed and direction.
I am wondering how many of GRF members saw my engine on the Andrew Neale trophy stand and what your thoughts were and what do you think I could improve on for next time?

My initial thought was..... have you thought about NOT entering next year as you blew my 'Neptune' clean out of the water!
Well done and many congratulations. I did manage to win the Gordon Diplock trophy so I mustn't be greedy,

I thought it was great, having been tracking its progress I can really appreciate how much work went into it. Only things I could think of for improving it would be a tool box, oil can, oily rag on the running boards and a crew member but you were probably going for the freshly out of the works style. I thought the standards of the models were very high this year with one exception - no one entered the Junior Cup!

It is an absolutley amazing model, definatly a very worthy winner. As for the junior cup, maybe I should have entered, I would have ahd a chance of winning then

Is there anywhere I could get a little hunslet kit? ideally powered by battery? Great little model, can see why your so proud.

Just a thought about competitions in the future.... presentation is important and you can see from the photograph you began this thread with, the other entrants all used plinths with track to display their models.
As it was your first attempt I'm sure you had other things to think about.
A worthy winner against very stiff competition (me!)
