I have setup a tiny little layout on what little space I have had on my patio. Over the past few weeks I bought some more buildings, some die cast cars, got a few switches, and put in a yard. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to model. Being that I live in Florida I knew I would have to choose an area to model that had similar plant life and weather. I debated between Hawaii, the Caribbeans, Florida, Mexico, and Argentina and I finally decided on modeling my little railroad after doing research. I decided on Mexican 30 inch gauge industrial line based roughly on Compañía Minera de Peñoles and other similar 30 inch narrow gauge lines. The reason why I primarily chose this is due to my main engine being a 1:19th scale Roundhouse 2-6-2 prairie engine that looks similar to some of the Baldwin 2-6-2s that did run on Compañía Minera de Peñoles and other Mexican railways. Below is a link to Compañía Minera de Peñoles for reference. I have a bunch of other engines also that are small and could be perceived as 1:18th or 1:19th scale. That's why you'll see 1:18th diecast cars in the background instead of 1:24th that you more typically see with G. I'm trying to give the impression of small 30 inch narrow gauge layout.

Here are some pictures.
And a video!
I hope you enjoy. The video is actually a mishmash of two running sessions. I had problems the first run because the front truck kept derailing on the switch around the northern bend. I ended up swapping that switch with the other left handed one in the yard and tightening the screw holding on the front pilot on the locomotive. no problems after that except that one instance in the yard at the very end of the video.

Cool. I like how your railway is glassed-in so that ne'er-do-wells can't get in at it, and I like how you've used straw to simulate a sugarcane load. The locomotive looks good too, all black and dirty like a North American engine generally would look. Is it a modified Fowler, or does Roundhouse make a "prairie" type engine?
You need some more freightcars. That locomotive can pull about thirty of those.

Lol not up those grades! It is a Fowler, to be specific a Brandbright MK I Liberty Bell made in 92. I did a lot of work on it and I posted about it in another topic on this forum. Just look for RH Liberty Bell. It can pull plenty of empty freight cars but those two hoppers, hell no! too heavy but the one big hopper weighs at least twelve pounds with gravel. On a flat surface it can pull a lot but I got tight radius, 4 ft, and steep grades of 3% or more on my layout. So I have to be short on load. It's screened in actually but it keeps the bugs out.

Twelve pounds, holy mackerel! Well, it's a nice looking engine. I will give your modification thread a look.

Looks very nice - a lot in a small space. You have discovered that it's not easy to drive a loco AND make a video at the same time!
