Shes a beauty Pauly, really nice looking loco. I'm liking that a lot. Have you steamed her yet? If so hows it run?

This is an excellent and much improved example of the marque and I know this locomotive well. It has replacement piston valves and steam chests, replacement 0 ring pistons and a proper lube drain. It has been properly cared for over many years and will provide many years of good service. Spare parts for Merlin are available from Simon Whenmouth at Anything Narrow Gauge

Well, that's the expert declaration!
Question about the lining - is it painted on or how?

Lining tape. This can be removed if you wish by just stripping off with a fingernail and then a wipe with a bit of sticky stuff remover – back then to original. Don't ry to remove the plates. Don would have used 2 part 'poxy...

How much did you pay for her if you don't mind me asking Pauly?
Lovely beastie- is it me or is it an 0-6-0 though?

As one who really rates Merlins, it would be nice to know how many Mayflower's are still out there, you get to see far more Mayflower's than its sister Monarch, and Mayfly's seem to be really thin on the ground but i suppose it was late onto the scene when Merlin was on the way out
cheers, Rob

Standards had dropped so far by the time the Mayfly came out that few survived. Mayflower was the most popular model by far and is stil (IMO) the prettiest NG garden loco around. I would love to see one built to modern standards.

I saw about 3 for sale not including my own, the worst was a total wreck.
it was in a box on the floor when I stumbled across it, I thought it was a mamod know until a lifted the poor thing out of its box.
