A cheap plastic toy

Post by Sir haydn » Tue Jan 25, 2011 5:44 pm

Seeing one of Greg's wagon loads made me remember the plastic traction engine toys so many have used for conversion. We got talking and last weekend he bought one down for me. Many thanks Greg!

This is what I did to it

They tend to crop up in preserved railway gift shops - bright multi coloured soft plastic kids toys :D
They're cheap too! They're worth the sale price just to take those rear wheels off, paint 'em and throw 'em in a wagon as a load!

Look out for cheap Thomas Toys too - just take the faces off to use on your own loco's for those TTTE days!

Always check out your local railway Pres' soc' - I recently picked up a 1:18 minichamps Mk1 Escort, brand new in its box for a tenner  - (bumped up the days takings in the shop by 50% :D)

1:18 cars are awesome, I've got a 1:18 scale KITT & he's fantastic. I'm going to try & get a Mk2 Escort, a Norev Capri 2.8 & a chrome bumper MGB GT. Then I can have a little car chase or two  . What is disappointing is that half of all 1:18 scale cars are based on crumby modern hatchbacks & modern super cars. I WANT CLASSICS, GIVE ME CLASSICS!!!!!! Another thing is price, KITT cost about £40, the Capri would cost about £50 but I've seen some Escort 1600 Sport models retailing at £25 & the MGB would cost £29. There are also Sierra Cossies about as well with felt carpets & seats that cost around the same as the capri
