Nameplates-how to attach them to my loco?

Wondering how do i attach my nameplates to my loco?

ooh erk there are lots of different ways, I hear silicon glue is good but never tried it myself, I always use super glue
(sharp intake of breath from everyone) and found it to be quite good.

Silicone sealer has the virtue of being "peelable" without damaging the paintwork - almost anything else will lift the paint if you try to get the plates off again.

I use double-sided tape myself, but not where it will get hot (like Mamod side tanks) - THAT was an unmitigated disaster!

I have found that araldite is not great when heated, I found this out when I stuck Rene's head back on and as the loco ran again he gradually snoozed off until plunk and he was headless again...

never had that problem even with plates on boilers and smokeboxes

I have only had to do this once, for my earl and used superglue. I wouldn't suggest this if it is on a loco in which you might change your mind on positioning or name, for the earl it is alright because I doubt I will ever want to move the numberplates from that position.(I haven't added the nameplates)

I have used superglue stupidly (all the one's I've stuck on were early on in my adventure into 16mm railways...), but next time I'm guna try silicon. Having said that, the superglued ones I've done were only a very very small blob of it so if it were to come off, the new name plate would just cover the damaged paintwork...

Same here, superglue for me. So far they are all fixed on loco's I have painted anyway so can always repaint in the worst case scenario.

I use a bit of double-sided carpet tape, holds them well and doesnt leave a mark when taken off.
