i'd say try your local model and hobby shop, or even a craft shop. Getting wood is a bit hit and miss i've found though, as model shops rarely seem to stock the same wood size and material 2 times round! My local shop had some bass wood in, I brought it about 2 years ago and they havn't had any more since!

You need a REALLY good model shop that caters for boat and/or aircraft modellers - I use Gee Dee's in Nottingham and haven't found anywhere else locally to touch them.

I found a good supply of Bass wood (strip and board) at hobycraft. try your nearest store they may well stock some. Of course some was purchased and I am now thinking of scrathbuilding my first carriage. Not sure what it will be yet, fancy trying to do a much shorter version of the WHR Observation coach with the round window at the end.

Erm to be honest I dont have a clue - good old Google will tell you.

And as for the Obs coach, I will probably chop down the entire partition between the Obs end and the Pulman section (people who know the carriage should know what i mean). It is still very much in the design stages - in my head!
