and bought some new couplings.

thought a problem occurs.
The nipples on the pump, are 3/32", the black on the boiler, is 1/8", there arent any adaptors, as far as i am awear, that go from 1/8 to 3/32.

I don't suppose 3/32 pipe will just solder in to 1/8?

I should get some cream for those nipples.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I think your best bet would be to make one (in the immortal words of Top Gear "How hard can it be?"), or as Pete says ask at GMES.

Nice to see some progress! There will always be set backs in projects like this but you'll get round them!

Drill out the 1/8th pipe to 3/32 internal diameter. File a cone on the end of the 3/32 pipe and push it in to the 1/8 pipe. Silver solder the joint.

good news!
i have finished fitting the new eccentrics, and bolted on the cross head water pump.

set up the old gas fired boiler etc on it, and it goes! although its very lumpy.
so far i have only run it on blocks, but hope to see how it performs on the track tomorrow.

if it is very lumpy then you havent got the timing quite right, and belive me when i say 1 degree out makes a difference

Looks like good progress is being made. I might be a teenager by definition but I disapprove of rude comments being made on a garden railway site!!!!
