I’m afraid I can’t recommend my preferred decal paper as it appears to be no longer available, so I recently bought a few small packets from different manufacturers to try. Unfortunately, I also bought new, not-OEM inks and new spraycan varnish. When it all went horribly wrong it took a while to arrive at changing the varnish (and being super conscientious about applying it). The paper that then worked happened to be from Hayes Paper Co — but I don’t know about the other ones yet.
Thanks Bertie. Sometimes we have no choice but to change more than one component at a time.🤦‍♂️ I need to put on my big boy pants and have another go.

This somewhat delayed video’s an update of the previous one really. I’ve lazily given track laying a rest for a while but (as you may already have seen in the earlier GIFs) I’ve had a play with some of the locos. [This is a really persuasive pitch isn’t it…]

Impressed with the solid looking track construction Bertie, should make for some trouble free running.
Grant.

Thank you for posting. Most impressive. May I ask what is the material you have used to edge your boards - looks like some sort of aluminium or maybe plastic? It seems to be pop-rivetted on somehow. I have a similar need and this looks just the job. Where did you buy it from? Thank you in anticipation.

It’s 6 x 45mm UPVC architrave / window trim, from B&Q. Comes in 2.4m lengths. I cut them in half and did a Foamex jig / guide to get the screw holes in the right place and equally spaced. Rollered both sides with the obligatory Anthracite paint and secured them with truss head screws (I’d bought a super wizzo cordless drill especially for the project!). Hope that’s a help.

Some of the 'action' is a bit soft — best viewed on a small screen

A short video of the recently refurbished loco’s (occasionally bumpy) first go outside. It had run quite smoothly on short lengths of track laid on the carpet...
