Deconstructing a garden railway

Post by Justrite » Sun Jul 19, 2026 11:37 pm

Hi unfortunately we are deconstructing my father’s garden railway. He was a superb modeller ( but I confess to being biased) and focussed on the Talyllyn Railway and Corris Railway. We are keeping as much as we can, but we have many unbuilt Atropos kits 16mm -Corris railway 4 wheel carriage, trestle slab wagon, iron drop door open wagon plus a few others as well as parts and wheels - all brand new in unopened packages. We will be selling them once I figure out what to request. That is my problem, I can’t find any for sale, so I am struggling to estimate what they are worth? We also have a mix of new and used tracks plus some larger made models. Any guidance and advice on how we can re home his collection would be appreciated. Many Thanks J

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your dad. Must be doubly upsetting to have to dismantle his railway.

Atropos kits are very good quality. I found a couple of their smaller kits listed on the web for £25 if that's any help ...

Eg https://www.amazinglittletrains.com/pro ... it-atropos

Alternatively, you could put them up for auction on eBay and let them find their own price.

Hi thank you for your kind words. I’m not a fan of eBay due to trying to figure out postage so it might have to be Vinted. We asked also at Talyllyn railway if they had anything targeted at members building railways and they said eBay as well. I have found an old price list on this site as well and your link, so with a bit of guess work they will find a new home or else I will be posting pictures of my new garden railway!
