Does anyone recognise this loco?

Post by BryanW » Mon Jun 08, 2026 2:45 pm

I acquired this battery-powered loco some six months ago in a "job lot" from the widow of one Clive Brett, of Aston on Trent in South Derbyshire. I believe Clive had also bought it second-hand about 15 to 20 years ago. It has seen some changes in my ownership - change of livery (it was originally just plain black ), and I have added the dome and lip to the chimney and lights. Originally it had a knurled knob where the dome now is to work a simple rheostat. I have converted it to radio control and given it a name ("Belle" after my border collie!). Previously it had no name, number or any insignia at all.
The body of the model is constructed entirely of plasticard but the chassis is metal.
I do not believe this is an off the shelf model or indeed one made from a kit but is more likely to be a scratch built affair. It is however built to a good standard.
Does anyone have any ideas about its origins - who may have built it and how old it is?

Thank you in anticipation.

Bryan

Of course, silly me it would have been helpful if I had posted the photos I took!

Sorry, no idea about the loco, but I am impressed by your workspace.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Ditto - in all respects
It is indeed a very fine model.
