Separating wheels from axles
I am planning to build a small industrial diesel loco and I was planning to use Brandbright wagon wheels for it. Does anybody know how hard/easy is to dismantle the wheels from the axles in order to install the cogwheel, are they pressfit? Or are there some other alternatives? I think the wheel diameter should be around 20 mm.
Cheers,
Allu

Separate wheels and axles are available from https://peterbinnie.com/ and are used in many loco kits

Thanks, looks like they have a good selection indeed. I was hoping to get all-steel wheels though as they give some additional weight and robustness, but probably the easiar solution are the binnie onesStuartJ wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2026 11:02 am Separate wheels and axles are available from https://peterbinnie.com/ and are used in many loco kits

Any experiences with removing the steelwheels from their axles and possible best practices?
