Exhill Rolling Stock

Post by John Besley » Thu Dec 25, 2025 10:09 am

The time has come to dispose of the rest of my 16mm rolling stock, they have spent the last 20 years in storage, I cant see ill ever get to use them again and to be honest i'd sooner see them being cared for and used than spend another 15- 20 years in storage until I pass on...

I'll take some more pictures in the next day or so but just want to see what the interest would be, job to know how to price this, the altternitive would be ebay... but Id sooner know where they where going rather than someone buy them to sell on

That’s a really thoughtful way to approach parting with your collection, especially after so many years in storage. It sounds like you’ve got a well-built and quite unique set of 16mm scale items, particularly the scratch-built pieces and the Wisbech tram, which will definitely appeal to enthusiasts of 16mm scale model railway layouts. Pricing can be tricky, but condition, running order, and provenance usually matter more than age alone. Listing it with clear photos and honest descriptions on specialist railway forums or auction sites like eBay should help you find buyers who will genuinely appreciate and continue using the stock.

You can't send him a PM because he only has the one post and is still in "moderation". His last login to the forum was at the beginning of Jan ( presumably looking to see if there was any response to his post) so not sure how active he is/has been, and given that the original post was back in 2025 he may well have disposed of everything, but no harm in asking of course.
