There is indeed Alan.

It has a hinged lid, and starts at the very front of the cab sheet and comes back about 1 inch and a half past the roof supports.

I'll get some measurements and pics for you on Saturday ;)

My loco isn't particularly a scale model, photos of the side tank showing the positions of the rivets on the outside of the tank would be good. and a shot showing how the lid opens around the cab roof support?

Cheers,

Alan

the tool box is behind the reversing lever:
you can see its just open:

here is another shot:

here is some ones of the bunker, that is the sander lever on the side of it:

as for the tank, there is rivets along the top and bottom of the front plate:

a row along the top of the back:

and a row either end of the wrapper. this pic also shows the rivets on the cab side, where the tool box is, shows the sanders under the tank and shows the water balance pipe on the bottom of the tank. there is no line of rivets down the centre of the tank:

a shot of the other side where the bunker rivets are:

again:

and one showing the canopy if you are putting one on, i will on mine:

Thanks for those pics, helps clarify what the rivets are there for! I think it'd be nice to fit in the bunker and that toolbox, although the cab will be rather full with a gas tank and a lubricator! I'll see what I can do!

Progress on the Loco today - I made this former for bending the radius's on the lower edge of the saddletank. The locobox just had a rolled sheet, cropped off without the tuck under on the bottom.

I'll roll the wrapper and then clamp it to the former and bend round the bottom edges in a vice.

I just wondered what the details were on the worksplate on Wendy at Amberley and it's number and or year, would it be the same layout as per leonard or more like this on Armistice:

I just noticed the ads on here...

garden railways and naturism, hardly seems appropriate, could end up with more than burnt fingertips...ouch!!

Alan,

The toolbox on Wendy is the same as on Leonard, in terms of how it goes around the cab support and size.

The makers plate is the same as the one you make (http://193.189.74.32/~apbriggs/catalog/ ... 35ad0690a0)

and Wendy's number is 2091, and she was built in 1919 ;)

My Locobox Loco is almost ready to start reinstalling all the pipework and ready for a test steaming! I still need to solder up the saddletank and finish off the cab parts, but now it's all bolted together with the cab bolted to the footplate. Extra details will be added but it'll be a big moment to see it moving under it's own steam! :D

I'll be chuffed to bits! :P

I did a test steam up of the locobox today. First of all I couldn't get the burner to burn in the flue, it just wouldn't pop back and was burning in the smokebox all the time. A carefull application of PTFE to the gas jet sorted that out. Once pressure was up it ran like a train, nice constant leisurely speed too.

It only runs forwards atm, so need to check the alignment of the reverser block and sort that out. It's the original problem the loco had when I purchased it.

There's a slight issue with clearance on the valve where the pressure gauge is fitted. I may just be able to turn a smaller cap for the displacement lubricator.

I'm pretty pleased with it so far, it looks great running.

Edit: Loco now running forwards and in reverse too now. Was a problem with the lever on the reverser being slightly off centre so the reverser wasn't moving far enough to one side. Also remade some of the pipework so pressure gauge working too now.

I just need to sort out the burner as it's pulsing a little bit, and has trouble maintaining pressure over about 20 psi. Still runs great though on 15+ psi.

Thanks, I just think it'd be a nice touch to get the same paint as the original loco. :D

Don't forget to include the chipped paint around the tank filler  Whilst I'm at it, I'll try and find out the BS number for the paint on the frames...
