I just bought another Loco! This time a rather worse for wear Locobox!
Paid £70 for it on ebay, but as I enjoy messing around and taking things apart I'm sure there must be enough of it that works even if I need to buy, make or steal parts to get it up and running.

If your going to repaint it how about doing it up like wendy from amberly? IM sure you could CNC out a cab for it and seeing as it needs a repaint and all....

You must have read my mind!
My new Millie is blue and was thinking how nice it looks...so shouldn't take a huge amount of work to convert it into Wendy!

If you could get some walk around shots of Wendy it'd be good, especially the rear of the cab as I don't have any pics from that angle.
Cheers,
Alan

I picked up the Locobox loco from the post office this morning as it was delivered when I was out. Came well packaged in a Giant Cat Food tin! No damage from being shipped happily.
I've only looked at it for 5 minutes but all seems to be in pretty good shape. Superficially it needs a clean and a repaint in places. Loco is amazingly simple as it's internally gas fired so underneath is just the axles and steam pipe and reverser. I can recognise what looks like a Roundhouse Saftety Valve and the reverser block looks very much like the one on my Jane, i.e. upgraded mamod part. The loco apparently runs in one direction only so it seems this part is to blame. Doesn't seem to be much wear to the wheels or the rods - all h eimportant stuff! I'll try replacing the reverserwith a new PPS one that I've got, if if this sorts it then I'll look into working on the original one.
It's actually been sprayed in Matt Black paint to give it more of a look of a hardworking industrial loco. This has come off in places, once it's running i'll strip and paint but in the meantime might just try to remove that from the original stove enamel paintwork.
I'll post back with more info and photos once I've had a proper look at the loco. Happy bunny here though!!!

Here's a couple of before pictures:
The previous owner has weathered the loco a fair bit. Personally I prefer to polish them up, keep them tidy and then just let them develop a patina and let the brass dull down a bit. The steam fittings were all painted over too. I've stripped the loco down as the cylinders had been removed and just held on by a couple of screws, the gaskets were decidedly manky too. I'll respray the frames and boiler, clean up all the brasswork, and get the sheet metal powder coated.

Planned mods for the loco...first thing is to get some decent bufferbeams, the rear one is just the sheet steel frame spacer folded over. I'll have a look at how a Wendy style cab would scale up, prob is the loco is very large in 16mm for such a small loco, I might have to model it in 7/8ths scale to make it a little more scale in appearance.
I'm also contemplating soldering up a functional saddle tank, but would have to refer to a drawing and see how practical this could be. It would probably make the loco a little more efficient too as I could clad the boiler and get a little insulation there too. Plus the top up water would be pre heated.
EDIT:
I've now printed out the drawings of the Bagnall and played around arranging the locobox around them, the saddletank is massive, which I knew but If I'm going to make it into a Wendy...
I think If I shorten the frames by approx 15mm, and move the cab forward about 20mm. I can make a new saddletank which is much more in proportion to the Bagnall. Also I can push the rear bufferbeam forward so it tucks under the cab back. I'd need to raise the frames a little as it would bring the cab over the rear wheel rather than a fair way behind it!
It really changes the look of the loco and will give a much more scale appearance. Also I think the saddletank would really benefit from the radius tucking under on the lower edge of the saddletank rather than the sharp edge of the sheetwork.
