Jedrig

At the Peterborough show I gave in to temptation and bought a Jedrig (made for John Sutton by Accuraft) as the Edrig was no longer available. This was my first steam loco of this size, before I had played around with a Mamod SL1 but wanted something bigger.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, the gas control was very course and felt spongy, it was either on or off and on seemed to be full on so a run was very short. The regulator was very course and stiff, making control on the move very difficult and slow running impossible.
Browsing the internet one day I found myself going through Chris Cairns website and found a video of him replacing the gas and regulator jets in an Ragleth with ones from "The Train Department".
So if CC says it was a good thing to do then I would do the same, the parts duly arrived (a bit late as Jay had supply problems) and took moments to fit. Wow! what a difference, I can "feel" the controls, the gas can be turned right down and is not spongy resulting in long runs. The regulator is now smooth and easy to adjust on the move resulting in good slow running.
Thanks to Chris and Jay of TTD I am now a very pleased owner of a Jedrig.

It would be nice to take the credit but I assume you have mixed up my name with that of Chris Bird (Mr Summerland Chuffer).

I have one of The Train Department replacement regulator valves fitted to my Ragleth, with 2 more to fit to my Edrig & Caradoc, and gave one to a fellow Jedrig owner.

Currently none of these replacement valves are available from The Train Department.

Sorry, yes I did mean Chris Bird, although you can take a lot of credit for inspiring me with your posts as I journey into this new world for me of garden railways.

And sorry to Chris Bird if he is reading this and thanks for a very informative website.
