Firebox

Post by FWLR » Sat Jul 19, 2025 12:54 pm

Hi guys,

I am asking does anyone have any files for a firebox, don’t laugh πŸ˜† it’s the one where the fireman shovels the coal, I did say don’t laugh 😹🀣🀣🀣. It’s for a loco I’ve had for a couple of years and I want something that will hide the electrics and stuff.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Rod, What is the loco? Some builders had fairly standard parts so you might be lucky, but basically each variety of loco from each builder will have a different shape/size firebox and obviously you will need one that fits into the cab front and also marries up with the back end of the boiler, at the very least.

Hi Rod
In the files for my GVT Glyn loco in the 3D print files section is this backhead

Would that be of any use to you?

That’s it Rik… I knew I had seen it somewhere before, but my memory really is getting silly.

I have been looking for it in the 3D files, but just couldn’t remember where it was :bom:

Bye the way Rik, the forum loaded up really quickly this morning at 4.45 on my iPad. The app isn’t an app, it’s just how I save websites, bookmarked! Sorry for the confusion

Still I have got the information I am looking for. Thanks Rik. :thumbright:

Hi Phillip,

It’s a loco I have built myself out of bits of plastic, wood and other stuff I have been keeping for β€œyou never know” that will all seem to. :thumbright:

Thank you for your reply and help. :thumbright:

I believe Philip created a firebox backhead like that as well when he built his Luna (aka improved Thornas): viewtopic.php?p=176087#p176087

Might be worth a look depending on how the other one fits.

Thanks Drew.
Yes this is mine ( the Luna files are added into Drew's Thornas files thread) .
Sorry Rod, when you said about hiding the electrics, I thought you wanted the complete firebox, not just the back head

No need to be sorry Phillip, it’s my lack of loco knowledge that is the problem :lol :lol :lol

By the way while I’m able to get on the forum, it’s still not playing ball with me again. Like I mentioned earlier, very early this morning πŸŒ… it was brilliant, really fast loading and jI mean fast :thumbright: writing on the forum and posting was just the same, very fast. I am now wondering if it is after a certain time and until a certain time that we are having trouble πŸ‘Ώ.

I didn’t want to post on the β€œGeneral Error” thread in case I was struggling to load again. Maybe you could move the paragraph about it onto the thread. :thumbright:
