This may be a silly question but where are the safety valve on older Pearse locos are they a cunning hidden design?

Are you interested in a particular loco. If it´s a W&L one, then I can have a look when I get back some time this week.

I have an old Genesis which I've not steamed yet which only appears to have a water filler in the cab and no visible safety valve.

Have you checked underneath the dome?

The dome is the same as a Merlin Major which is the terminus of the R/C aerial, however I have unscrewed the luck nut on top and the brass post inside is more chunky that I would expect, I wondered if it was a unique design of valve that was piped out to the smoke box.

On a second look under the dome what I though was a sold post is a brass cap screwed over the safety valve with this and the lock nut having a small hole though to let the steam out.
