Hey Folks,

So I am finally taking my first tentative steps into 16mm and by the end of the month will have an Edrig. I'm looking into body kits and wondered if anyone could recommend body kits available on the market, with pictures for a rough idea of size?

Thanks

Swift Sixteen do an excellent kit called Owain. Its a chunky body with tanks inspired by the Vale of Rheidol locomotives. It also features their unique adjustable opening spectacles as well!
Robs very friendly and will give you help whenever you need it! 😃

Hi,

Have a look at my Mikes Models Baldrig conversion.
It's a 16mm kit not 7/8th scale
Go to my Youtube uploads to see the assembled kit running before it was painted. LLANWELLYN is my user name. Scroll down my uploads to find it. In fact there are two uploads of the same kit. Easy to put together and great quality.

John.

Ah, I've seen your loco. How tall is it from track to cab roof, looks massive?!

It's 155mm. Thats to the middle top of the back of the cab roof. You should remember that Edrig is a G scale loco not 16mil. Its big when stood next to say a Lady Anne. Are you modelling in G or 16mm? I do both on 32mm track. Best of both worlds. If I were to start out fresh I would have 45mil track. I went the 32mil way so I could run Finescale locos, Peckett and Quary locos and have stuck with it.

I'm using 32mm but will be modelling roughly 2' 6" so want stockier locomotives. Also hoping to to have majority W&LLR-type stock from Accucraft

I've got a Baldrig XT - see www.mdlr.co.uk/loco20.html. Bear in mind that it is rather bigger than most other locos - I actually "found" some infrastructure on Matt Acton's line with the cab roof, and I have now got my W&LLR van out of store, so that the roof line on a train does not seem to vary as much - look at the photos and you'll see what I mean!

You don't happen to have a picture of it alongside your W&LLR van do you? Worried it might be slightly too stocky

So, finally picked up my Edrig yesterday, and I am now officially a 16mm locomotive owner (yey).

Brian, don't suppose you've managed to get a shot of your WLLR van and Rincewind side-by-side yet have you?

(FX)
(Grumble, mutter.......)
(Grabs camera - sound of steps going downstairs)
(Gets loco and stock)
(Discovers normal 1 yard length of track is not long enough)
(Mutter, CURSE, Grumble)
(Goes to shed to get lengths of Mamod track)

CLICK!! CLICK!!

(sound of steps coming UP stairs)

Going bunker first, the difference isn't so apparent, but it'll now run chimney first and looks rather better with the van.

No - it's a Brandbright kit which I built in 1989 (and it has the Works plate to prove it.............)
