Need the Lew........

Shortly before Christmas an email from Trach-Shack reminded me I had ordered a loco from them a couple of years ago. A few days later a box arrived........
Inside the box was another box:
Inside that box:
Thirsty work all this:
Well wrapped:
Finally:
There was a small problem but fantastic service by both John at Track-Shack and Ian at Accucraft resulted in Ian personally dropping off replacement parts at my house and everything was soon sorted.
Its had some running in on the rolling road and there is a marked change in it loosening up. After 6 hours running in she quite happily trundled around with 40 axels behind, quite impressive when you think of the gradients on the West Shropshire Mineral Railway.
There are plans for extra bits of work (lining and RC amongst others) to be carried out on what is already proving to be a powerful addition to the loco roster.
The staff at the MPD are more than happy with their new acquisition and sent her out on a test run with the snow plough the other day:

That's the plan Brian. Just like Lyd was but under the theory the Lew just went north at the close of the L&B.

If you ever feel like you've had enough of her and want to give her to a good home I'm sure I could locate such a railway

I have to confess, I am not the greatest fan of this style of baldwin locomotive but I have to admit she looks really nice in the satin black. Is there any chance of a video? To me it looks like she would glide along.

Do you know why it took so long to be produced?

Managed to upload a few videos on Photobucket, though the App is having a moment and when its compressed them it has exaggerated any jerks.
The first 2 are the first runs on the rolling road:
Then on a late night freight working after about 3 hours running in on the rolling road:
LnBmad, that's a very kind offer from you, I shall write it down just incase I forget
Ace, she is a Manning Wardle, the last one built for the L&B. Differs from the original 3 by having the flat cab back, no extension to the front of the cab and only a drip tray under the valve gear instead of the casing.
tom_tom, there was 10 months from 'expression of interest' to 'confirmation of order'. Then as I changed the order part way through when they announced they were releasing a plain black model my loco moved from first batch to second batch, so that added another 12 months into the order. From original order I think it was 18 months to delivery of the first batch and then due to certain changes between the 2 batches another 12 months to delivery of the second batch.

DVT Dweller, thanks for the brief history lesson.

You forgot to mention the fact that Lyn has a couple of less wheels.
Thanks also for the videos, they are great and Lew runs really well. I am slowly changing my opinion of these locos and the L&B in general. Considering the L&B is only an hour or so away from me, it would be rude not to pay a visit.
Thanks for sharing.

That's pretty smooth considering the fairly weighty train behind it? What's the adjustment like on the gas and regulator?

The 'new' L & B is really going places, the restored coaches are works of art and they expect to steam the new 'Lyn' in December 2015!
