Hello,
This little project being undertaken on the Mamod Forum is quite fascinating.

There is a SE3 (Mamod Stationary Engine) up for grabs as the prize of this 'Virtual Toy Steam Rally', I have to say, this chap deserves to win.
Anyone shocked that I've posted a link to the Mamod Forum on here need not be, I hope you feel you have the freedom to do so here, and vice-versa.

I saw your new loco Pauly, very nice, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy my Edrig, they're brilliant locos, what you seem to have built is a running shed of the affordable beginers locos, which is why I can't wait to see them lined up at Christmas

in the mamod promo vid you might noticed that the steam rollers piston assembley is on the wrong side
I think its the pre-production proto.

One problem I can see with that thing. Wheres the bogies and how the hell is it going to get round anything less that a 30ft radius curve.

From reading it, it sounds like it's designed to- just- go round mamod track? Judging from the piccy of him trialling the burner anyway.

If it'd designed to go around mamod 2ft 6ins radius' it'll go around anything! There's a shot showing the burner fitted and as it's rather long and thin, just manages to swing around inside the combustion chamber of the loco.

As above, it is designed to go round 2'6" curves - it has to otherwise it will not go round my railway!
I have got away with keeping the burner fixed, this top shot with the boiler removed shows how close the wicks get to the bogie frames on a mamod curve, particularly the outer ones, but it does go!

And this end shot of it sitting on mamod curved track shows the amount of swing to be expected:
The boiler makes plenty of steam, so when I cure the leaks and get all of it to the cylinders it will fly! Progress might be at a little more lesuirely pace than last weekend mind as I do have a life beyond steam engines, but it should not be too long!

You could also detour via Morecambe & test its speed with LMS Jools's dynometer car
