New Loco

A couple of the students at school have been making an electric loco to run on our SM32 track. The body is mainly laser cut acrylic. They have designed the chassis using a cheap electric motor and worm drive

Nice!

FYI, if you're looking for more educational projects, some of our students have had success using makerbot 3D printers to create worm gears and more complex components. This gives them experience doing more complex extrusions as well as insight into the parameters involved when designing gears.

Yes we have a 3D printer also, these students have only got basic 2D Cadd skills at the moment as they are only 12, they should be making a start this week on the chassis.

Looks great.

You would of thought the person building it was an adult doing a kit bash :)
