I'm smitten...

This came the other day, whilst I was in the shower....
As it's snowing now, I've but a container outside to gather some fresh snow which I'll be filtering once it's thawed.
I know a lot of people have plenty of these engines, this is my first and I'm genuinely in love
Obviously, she's my second love as my girlfriend is my first.
For a more irreverent look on my modelling, please see my blog.

Congratulations and good recovery mentioning the misses
If possible purchase a safety valve bonnet as it will finish the loco off nicely.
Cheers,
Tom

aye!
Well partially thanks to you, I made my choice. I absolutely love what you've done to "Steam Clare".
Also, well ahead of you there mate, I got some bits in preparation from Elsecar when I bought her. Once she's run in and I'm used to her, a little braver, I'll be making some slight modifications. Nothing serious, but I might paint that back of the cab and add some changeable parts I've bought from roundhouse.
I also bought some cowcatchers from Brandbright which need some slight mods but I'm thinking of adding those.... I'm not too sure though atm. We'll see.

Wow, your shower is better equipped than mine, all I get is water.
Well done, and looks good in black!

Looks fantastic!
Is that the standard finish on the smokebox? It looks very matt to me (I like it!) - I'd expect a factory fresh engine to be more of a satin finish?

Hi there
Thanks

Still have yet to tun her at the moment.
Yeah, they changed the pattern either last year or the year before to matt black. But it adds a nice different between the platework and the smokebox and cab roof.

Hi chaps, I've still yet to steam her. Weather isn't really playing ball but I've been busy working on things for her top pull.
Anyway, I've been working on an eventual idea of what I'd like her to look like eventually once I've got the bottle to have a go and run her in.
The only real difference is I have two cowcatchers I'm planning to modify and add to her.I appreciate that this is radically different from what I had planned a while ago but things and costs set in.

Looks very smart. Are you planing to use the cow catchers available from swift sixteen?

Red/white is a good lining choice for black, as is red/light blue. The concept images there look good. It really is amazing what you can do with some of these locos, both Roundhouse and Accucraft, they are certainly a good base to personalise... Bit of a cheeky one here and most will have seen this, but here is a pic of my Ragleth...

Sam: Thanks man, I only just found out swift sixteen do cowcatchers. so unfortunately not for this model.
I while back I bought two Brandbright brass cowcatchers, they'll need some new holes drilling, I believe, to fit the buffer beams on "Jemima" as Roundhouse kindly fitted the type normally fitted to their Billy loco.
LlanpwllBrynwyn: I totally agree, even the basic loco's look beautiful but as you've demonstrated you can do so much with the Ragleth.
Can I just ask, how did you find Lightline to deal with?
The personalising list continues though, I've been pondering on the Locoworks website for some ideas and I'm wondering if Roundhouse would be just as kind to sell off some of the Silver Lady tank fillers.
If anyone wants a plain concept image of Lady Anne or a Katie I'll be more than happy to pass them on.

Geoff at Lightline is a really pleasant chap to deal with. I just said I wanted a Penrhyn livery similar to the one that Linda was carrying when she had the portable fuel tank and no tender a couple of years back. From those simple words he did a beautiful job with no fuss. Picked it up from the Peterborough show last year, and he kept it on his display up until 4.30pm (when I departed) to save me having to carry it around with me. Already have my Taliesin booked in with him for the full works job once Roundhouse have built it for me!

I find Lightline very nice to deal with. My RH Silver Lady did get a nice lining-job before shipped home to me.

Talking of cheeky photos you've probably seen before.....

I did this repaint with waterslide transfers made for me by 'Chris's Bespoke Transfers' for a fraction of the price.
You do have to be very patient though, as the corners are separate from the straight sections. A lot easier than doing OO locos though for sure.

Thank you for the replies chaps.
I don't mind these cheeky photos, they certainly worth be cheeky about.
I ran my loco for the first time today and everything went pretty smoothly apart from panicking about whether I'm doing this or that, right or wrong!
The only thing I'm concerned about is possible limescale. After running, I found a dusty deposit on my engine which wiped away easily. My girlfriend got me the water from her dehumidifier. I'm just a bit worried that this may harm my engine. You can just about see it on the cab front in those pictures.

Well considering that you live near me (Sunderland's water has terrible limescale) I would say getting water from a dihumiderfer is the right thing to do.
The loco will only get better the more you run it.
