Post by vjoneslong5040 » Sat Mar 02, 2013 10:14 pm

Evening!

Finally got the chance to run some trains today and thought I'd better share some pictures.

First one is of Countess, as she slows for the entry into 3 trees curve.

I have to admit that Countess is my favourite. I've had a few problems with her (failing gauge glass, couple of failed servos on the regulator (my fault really)), but she runs beautifully. What I do like about her is the ability to set the regulator on the RC and just watch her gently pootle round. She happily restarts on the gradients and doesn't run away too much down hill, which means she's clocking the mileage up as I quite often run her while gardening.

Ah, yes the Campings! Much Camping is one of a series of villages known as the Campings, which include High Camping, Little Camping, Upper Camping, and Nether Camping. High Camping is served by a GWR branch which runs between Toryhurst junction and Chavington-on-Sea, while Much Camping is on the DFLR. The Campings only have one little historical note. It is reputed that King George V uttered the words "Bu99er Bognor" shortly before his death. Upon hearing this, the men of the campings rose up, forming the 1st Camping Fusiliers, and off to Bognor they went.

In reality, my first garden railway was a OO gauge representation of a GWR branchline. The intermediate station on that was always High Camping, so the name sort of stuck!

I was a little worried that I might be reading hidded messages into the station names - glad I wasn't!
