Willi's exhaust modification and pipe lagging

I added lagging to the pre cylinder side of my Willi's steam piping. I then took the exhaust pipe from the condisate box and routed it back toward the chimney. I added a piece of K&S brand brass pipe, sized to just sleeve over the factory pipe to route the exhaust into the chimney. The pipe makes a 90' bend inside the chimney then has a short extension soldered to it to make it almost flush with the factroy brass cap. I have no issues with condisate, what little does make it up the pipe, causing any issues. Most all of it goes out of the stack and onto the top of the boiler or near by just like any other live steamer. The steam plume looks good to me as seen in the first video(click on the pic to play) and the following pics. Mike

What did you use for lagging? String?

Yes, its 1000lb test kite string from my spare reel. My uncle, who is quite famous for his custom kites made each of the kids in the family one. I have lots of extra string. I hand wrapped each part of the line, tied it off, then soaked it with super glue (ACC glue). I read about doing that somewhere on a live steam forum. Mike

Good job!

I used string on my 1.5" scale loco, but painted it black.

Does the heat affect the ACC? Heat is one way to de-bond ACC..

I have steamed several times, no problems with the lagging thus far. Mike
