Garden Railway Forum Headboards!

Some of you might have seen my other thread about a possible design for a Garden Railway Forum headboard:

http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/abou ... =headboard

I designed a headboard for mamodforums.co.uk, by displaying one on your loco, it's a nice neat way of helping to promote the forum and personalising your loco too! I've designed a couple for this forum too, but so far haven't got much response about the designs I've made.

The headboards are primarily designed for mamod loco's but mounting brackets can be made to fit a range of locos, I'd just need the dimensions of the chimney to adapt the bracket to fit.

This is how they attach:

The problem is, with the lack of a domain name, the "Garden Railway Forum" doesn't take you straight to the forum in a google search, and Gardenrails.myfreeforums.org is a lot to fit on a small brass plate!

That's the idea of this poll, do you like the designs, or do you think it should be something different?

Here's how they look fitted:

Alan, I would definitely like a Garden Railway Forums Special headboard.
Would it be possible for you to make 1 special design plate like the ones you do now but with the text MDK 45 DAMP TUR ??? If so what would the charge, and would you be willing to post them to Denmark ?

For those that are voting for the 'Garden Railway Forum' option try putting this into a Google search. Our Forum does not appear on the Page One list, although has moved up from Page 5 to Page 3 this morning.

At least with 'gardenrails.myfreeforum.org' people can find us straight away.

Personally, I reckon that if anyone's really inspired by the headboard to have a look at the site, they'll ask the loco owner for the address. They'll probably have to write it down anyway (gardenrails.myfreeforum.org is a bit much to remember), and they can't really do that while the engine's running round a track!

Also Alan, are these brackets easy to remove when not required? I may order a headboard but I wouldn't want my engine to run with it all the time. And, would we be able to choose the background colour?

I can make custom designs, if I can utilise the existing design and fit the new wording onto the plate I can do the plate for £15. If the layout is totally different and I'd need a totally new shape of headboard I charge £25 for the plate as it's a lot more design work.

Shipping to Denmark would be at cost, obviously such a small item that wouldn't cost too much.

Hope this helps?

I also have an alternative shaped headboard like this, if that would suit your text better?

Would you just want the layout like this:

MDK 45
DAMP TUR

I still think a Gardenrails.tk domain would help. But I also like the idea of the Garden Railway Forum board too. I think it'd be great if locos could run with these when we take them to steam up's and shows. It's a nice way of identifying locos belonging to members on here.

The brackets are easy to remove, just one nut and bolt through the bracket.

It might also be a nice idea to use the same clip around the chimney but to be able to swap the headboard for a lamp bracket, then this would give a little more flexibility and be a work around the fact that mamods have no lamp irons!

Background colour can be either Black, Red or Green. I want to limit the colours otherwise I'll need a whole rainbow selection of paints and it'd make painting them as a batch a problem!

If you think all the Garden Rail Forum boards should be a different colour, maybe to represent the light blue on these forums that would be an option.

Voted option 2, but I think option 3 is a good point.

Fair enough, I only asked because I felt a red or black background might go better with my Russell's maroon livery. But do people want all the headboards the same colour, or are we happy to let each choose a colour according to his loco(s)?

I can supply the Garden Railway Forums headboard in Red, Black or Green.

The green might be a little darker than that shown in the photos too, as that is more of a Mid Green and a little bright!

I assume that this is of significance in the Narrow Gauge world, but not ringing any bells for me at present. Only Enterprise I can come up with online refers to the old steam express trains between Belfast & Dublin, which of course has lead to the current cross border operator 'Enterprise'.

And as far as I'm aware the engines in Jonathon Archer's Enterprise which I'm currently revisiting on DVD were not steam powered.

Enterprise was the name of LNER A3 No. 4480 (BR 60111), but I'm guessing that's not the inspiration?

The only Enterprise I can think of had a certain James Tiberius Kirk at the helm, but that one wasn't 2ft gauge!

Glad I'm not the only one that is confused. Hopefully William can enlighten us when his internet allows him.

Best Captain of the Starship Enterprise was (actually will be in our future) Jean-Luc Picard, and of course he was Captain of 2 completely different classes of Enterprise. Kirk's 2nd Enterprise was just a refit of the same class and re-numbered from 1701 to 1701A.

Here's the nameplate in the various colours, headboard will be £20 as it's made with your personalised lettering.

Looks good! I like the black one :D  I think to finish off the different colour choices you need a blue one and a white one ;)

You said this earlier though  :?
