Anna and her new clothes

Post by Michael Saettler » Tue Aug 07, 2012 9:00 pm

For some time I've thought about give one of my Annas a new look and extend her runs. If you know the moods of the Beck's locomotives and you can elimenate them, Anna is a very smooth runner.

My idea is to add a tender, including a bigger Regner gas tank and a water reservoir to feed the boiler with a Hielscher water pump.

I want to give the locomotive a colonial style with a Bangalore bell cowcatcher, an old Darjelling head lamp, a short cab like the Darjeeling D class, air pump, air tanks, whistle, toolbox and so on.

This is my first rough mockup. Looks like.... I like the lady.

I really like the mock up and it looks like a promising loco will come out of it.

2 quick questions:

Can you also get rid of that obtrusive Knob on the boiler chimney somehow?

Do you have a picture of what a Heilsher water pump looks like?

I like the look as-is very much :) I think once done it will look a pretty sight!

Good morning

Benchmark: This is the Link to the Hielscher water pump. http://www.hielscher-dampfmodelle.de/cm ... &Itemid=38

The knob will be replaced.

Sometime and somewhere I had seen a picture of a loco that has inspired me to rebuild my Anna. This morning it came back to me: It was Mike Gaskin's Ceylon. In 16mm Today, Issue 139, page 31, you can see the loco.

Looks good! However, if I might make one suggestion: perhaps you could investigate the possibility of adding a dummy firebox below the boiler in front of the cab? At the moment there is an awful lot of daylight visible below the boiler and, IMHO, it looks a bit odd.

I look forward to seeing the finished product! :)
