After an eager waiting period, they have finally arrived!

Post by Chris Cairns » Fri Aug 08, 2008 2:07 pm

I have been waiting for a package to arrive from alan2525 in the last few weeks, so was very pleased to be signing for that package this morning.

Having finally come up with a scheme for naming some of my locos I asked Alan if he could make me some appropriate name plates. Here are the results.

My IP Jane is now called 'Sìne', with a Mamod Forums Head Board as well.

A very happy driver.

This loco is still going through a makeover at present. Lamps to finish painting (still need to find some silver for the front lens), 2nd cylinder cover to finish painting, and a brass chimney cap to be ordered from Dream Steam.
Image
Not steam, but my IP Jessie is also getting a makeover and here is a happy driver with his new name plate 'Seasaìdh'.

And the other name plates.

'Seònaid' is for my IPS Janet project, and 'Eairdsidh' is for the SL1 which is to be repainted and named after my Grandfather Archibald.

Can anyone guess what my loco naming theme is based on here?

We need to get Alan to make an appropriate head board for this Forum. Any suggestions for the title & wording?

No I do not have any children, which allows me to afford my live steam hobby.

There are from a Gaelic language, but which one (there are currently 3 versions spoken in the British Isles)?

Alan has made a fantastic job of those. They look really good.

Did you send him a mark up showing exactly what you wanted, or just managed with a good explanation?

The name plates are the same size as Alan had fitted to his IP Jane ( http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/ftopic11176-0.php ). I just sent him a list of my preferred names, and he just had to find a font for his engraver that would do these Gaelic names OK.

I'm very pleased with the results.

Chris,

Good to see the nameplates fitted! They do finish off the locos a treat I must admit!

Nice photos too!

Well Done Graham, and you nearly got it right again Jim.

Yes they are all Scottish Gaelic names.

Sìne is Gaelic for Jane. Seasaìdh is Gaelic for Jessie. Seònaid is Gaelic for Janet, and Eairdsidh is Gaelic for Archie.

I'm trying to come up with a Gaelic name for my Garden Railway which would use the letters M R on my Mamod rolling stock.

Very clever Chris. They are beautifel, especially like the border design.
