The high concrete block wall behind the Nant Llywyd terminus of my railway has come in for some abuse, mostly from SLRmidge saying that it ruined photos there. Well today, he decided to do something about it, indeed buying the paint (which he then invoiced me for!) before asking my parents for permission. Then, just after 4.00 and using his O-level in art to its full advantage with pictures of Bleanau Ffestiniog for inspiration he got to work....

First some outlines....

Then filling in with blocks of colour. Well I say colour, I mean various shades of grey. It is representing a slate tip area after all

Whilst Midge was busy, I ran the first ANLR steam train since early February

After about half an hour, Midge had managed this, and he seemed quite pleased with himself. He is coming back on Wednesday to start adding some detail. Certainly changes the look of the garden a bit!

Well, he's been back a couple of times now. Not exactly sure we are getting anywhere...

This was the state of play on Friday afternoon, after I had made efforts to lighten off Midge's work from Wednesday which had left two black coloured blobs that dad reffered to as looking like Christmas puddings....

After Midge had finished for today. An attempt has been made both to add some slate waste tips, and also incorporate some vegetation. Must admit, I'm not fully convinced at the moment and more worryingly neither is mum!!

Get your mum to look at it with half closed eyes once you stop looking at the bricks shapes its brill. Welsh mountain on misty day effect.

I agree. Its fantastic. A very good backdrop. You will get some very realistic pictures in that setting.....

I can just make out the A470 winding its way over the pass - good effort! Really effective.

This was my effort its the barn at Dduallt though needs finishing its painted on the shed.  The garden gate has had the treatment as well. A blue sky does brighten things up!

Now thats what I call a backscene!

The glazed window is a lookout when Im operating in the pit beneath the shed its a dimplex radiator u see through it which was in storage at the time the pic was taken. Ive tried to create a similar backdrop of Blaenau tips on an adjacent wall but its not my wall and the neighbour wouldnt be too happy. So I have to obscure the bricks some other way though the track runs very close. I might use marine ply as a canvas.
With yours it be good to have a pile of slate against the wall and have a tunnel under it of which your track passes
