PPS Jenny?
Just got a list of second hand engines from Alan at PPS. It included this:
PPS Side Tank Jenny in Maroon (paint work needs attention) 0 gauge
Gas fired……………………………………………………………………………...£300
Doesn't seem much cheaper than a Janet, but is it the same thing?

No, the older version was the 'Jane' which was originally manufactured by IP Engineering for Brandbright. Then IP Eng sold it direct (it is still their Company logo), PPS then sold it in association with IP Eng, then when IP Eng stopped making the 'Jane’ and stocks were sold out, PPS came up with an improved model called 'Janet'. I have not found a Jenny in the old PPS catalogues, and indeed in 1996 the only locos that PPS sold were the old Mamod ones. His main business then was Stuart Models, Cheddar Models, Wilesco plus other steam plants. Looks like the 'Jane' was first sold by PPS in 1998.

Bit late now but I finally found her. Just reading the Mamod PDF file off the 16mm NGM Yahoo group produced the following information.
PPS Steam Models produce “Jenny”. This is a hybrid of the above two products, and has the added advantage of individual hand assembly and close fitting of steam parts (the above two products were the MSS loco & the IP Jane).
