last wednesday (10th August) i was working on one of my engines and managed to break the pressure gauge syphon. I recalled that Mike Ousby of Acme Engineering supplied alternative pressure gauge's with new syphons and gave him a call. Mike informed me that he usually only supplied syphons with a new gauge but on this occasion he would make a new one for me. He quoted a very fair price inc return postage so i posted a cheque and the broken syphon to him the next day (11th August).
This morning (16th August) i received through the post a package from Mike with my new syphon in it. What a brilliant service, we often hear of bad service but good service never seems to be mentioned!!

I had something from Acme and he must have posted it before my cheque arrived, excellant service.
Also Steve at Back2bay6 gave superb aftersales with a loco that had problems. Happy to recommend both guys.

THere are lots of people in this hobby, indeed in "Live steam" in general, that give service that puts other industries to shame. Chris at Summerland, Steve at Back2Bay6, Ivan at IP engineering, Harri at Roundhouse, and Simon at steam4fun, Diane/John Shawe at MDC, Mike Darby at chuffed2bits, are all people I have communicated with lately building my locomotive and train, as well as my model traction engine and wagon. I am sure that Mike at ACME is another of these excellent friendly people. It's one of the things I like the most about my terrible habit of building steam engine kits.
