I was wondering that- it looks new!

S' gonna be an interesting one.

Standard Baldrig XT or is it going to be something even more unique?

Matt assures me it has been run, but not much. I may get it back (temporarily) tonight so we can see where the R/C is going to go......... No whistle, unfortunately - no room!

The same evening, the Berry Hill Works delivered a Working Steam Plant...........

..................with all the missing bits replaced. We're going to add the R/C once the body's built........

.................. because we suspect there'll be more room for batteries in the new body. The cab's only been plonked on the footplate in this shot - it's designed to be "clamped" between the buffer beam and the frames.

No pictures today (maybe tomorrow) but at least progress has been made! I got the loco back with the Stuart drain cocks fitted - they work fine (after a little tweaking of an over-tight one).

After this, I took my life in my hands and went for a run. It ran beautifully (though I couldn't get the gas down low enough - something to do with the cold weather) but trundled around light engine at a very gentle pace

I am no longer an Accucraft virgin!

That's going to be very nice. I hope you turn the pressure gauge around.

Is the body made of nickel-silver? What is the advantage of this over the more conventional brass sheet?

In any case, it certainly will be a nice locomotive.

The jury's still out on that - I've never had a pressure gauge visible from outside the cab, so I'll see how it goes.

In my case, the advantage is that it's going to look different - what it's made of is immaterial to me!

............ and something a little different!

MUCH easier to solder! ;)

After a VERY long break (look when the previous posting was made) the body has made considerable progress, thanks to Jon Mead who had the kit to use in his soldering demonstration at Peterborough this year. Afterwards, he said "Would you like me to finish it?".............. Guess what I said!

The full story is on www.mdlr.co.uk/loco20.html but here's a taster...............

Now that´s going to be nice, I´m sure. Any thoughts about the paint job yet?

It's going to be black (gloss, satin and matt) with eventual lining in the style of the other MDLR steam locos.

Rod Nipper, who was doing the videoing, is editing all the footage (and there's a LOT!) with a view to a video releas - possibly next year's Member's DVD??

Oh dear. I really don't think mine is going to make a good video - it was barely coherent for me and I was there...
