Post 18 (most the way down the first page) is where it starts to get particuarly worrying.

Bother this forum theme that doesn't underline hyperlinks within the message text!

Ooops!

I always used to be clever and have a hyperlinked photo, but no-one ever realised they were anything but a photo- bit of a silly function really!

Not a problem - and a very interesting thread which is well worth having several links to.

Curiously, I got a phone call from the unfortunate "Annette" owner a few weeks ago, having posted a video on the Llechfan web site of one running there; he was looking for contacts for other owners.

Is the "Annette" not simply built from roundhouse kit components and a new boiler? If so, how could the smokebox and tanks be mounted that crookedly on the frame? I've built a roundhouse kit and they are very precise. It's hard to believe that it's even possible to assemble a roundhouse loco that poorly, coal boiler or no .

Blimey  glad I can't afford a loco like that, sounds a terrible thing to be involved with.
I had a problem with a secondhand loco from Back2bay6 and Steve could not have been better with his customer service, sadly not all sellers are the same.

I have seen this locomotive and the running plate is different because of course the smokebox must be sealed. The smokebox has just been plonked into place. This locomotive has been assembled and painted by someone who has very little idea of what they are doing... I have found nearly all of them built since the proprietor died and all I have come across have significant problems.

Ask him to get in touch – I can link him in...

I suggested he do so (and that he speak to Tony Willmore as well, knowing he had had dealings with other recent Sabre locos). Can't remember the chap's name (I was in the middle of getting the children changed for bed when he rang) but I think it was the unfortunate owner of works no. 040 as described in the current correspondence on G Scale Central, so it looks like contact has been made.
