I'm saddened to inform you that the MDLR is officially CLOSED - I went out to cut the lawn this evening and discovered that 26 yards of brand newly - laid track and four brand new turnouts, none of which had even seen a train, had all been ripped up and removed. The last time this happened, I said that if it happened again, I wouldn't relay, and I won't.

The MDLR will live on in its locos and stock (and possibly a very small exhibition layout) but I ain't having a garden railway no more - the vandals have won!

It is so frustrating that toe rags  :|  get away with this sort of thing having very real and upsetting emotional and physical impacts on Honest peoples daily lives.

If I lived near you I would suggest a few nights all night vigil amongst a small group and try n catch the gits red handed !

You will be very welcome to come run your stock on the LMSR if you are ever in the northwest.

If they have lifted and taken the rail they may be more than vandals and have discoveerd the value of the rails, is there anywhere local to you that buys nsells 2nd hand modelrailway stuff ? May be worth a check.

Oh my god fella, thats terrible news. I can understand how miffed you must be feeling right now. Perhaps LMS Jools is right & maybe we should all keep watch for people selling track at the moment to see. If they were vandals would they not just destroy the track on site?

Sound like someone knows the value of your layout if there taking track.
Tomorrow do a round of your local model shops, ask questions and generally make a pain of yoruself.

also check the area around your property, you live near a canal right?
they could have taken it and just dumped it somewhere nearby in a move of dick-headery.

Gutted! I can well imagine how you must be feeling (we are suffering from a continual attack of vandalism to the cars on the street), but I can only echo the comments above - don't let the lowlife scum win!
Relay the missing sections and concrete it in!
Rig up some security lights and a camera if you need to, but why let the b******s beat you.

But I'm inclined to echo the comments above. Have an all-night vigil to catch the perpetrators. Concrete your track in. Don't give up yet.

Although it might not look as nice you could indeed concrete your track in place like with some altered Roland mix. Could even go for a tram like look. Parts of the Summerland's railway have this and weathered down it looks quite good, certainly maintenance low and very difficult for a thug to rip up...

Why do people have to do such a thing in order for fun? Its discusting! and most probly the same group of idiots each time. I hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel and if any help is needed you know where I am.

Its unfortunate to think that there is the great possibility that it has been done for fun and the ruined track has been discareded in the canal. Scum Bags!!!

What a slice of utter scumbaggery. You've worked so damn hard and deserve so much better. I know how I felt when I had just a couple of yards ripped up by knuckledraggers, so don't even want to think about what you must be going through right now. I havent got a clue about laying track etc, but couldnt you concrete it all in and then screw it in with 4 or 5 inch screws in every 5 sleepers? might be alot of work and effort, but surely that might put the scumbags off trying again?  :D

And it looks as if you werent the only one a model railway dealer (not sure which) down the road from me in Staplehurst had 5 rare locos stolen last night from what I heard on the radio this morning.

Personally id be going out on a vengeance mission thank goodness i live with someone who would stop me from doing such things

id recommend getting some cctv cameras fitted even if they are fake ones, it may well make the b*****ds think twice.

The dealer in staplehurst is maxitrak.

Looks like they had several railway loco's, and live steam traction engines stolen. A lot of value of stock for a small company
