I've just won a Fowler rail car on ebay and I'm now wondering how easy they are to build. Hopefully I can repair River Ankh's support van before the rail car arrives. The support van needs a solebar glueing back on, a new transmitter & receiver (possibly a digital system) and a more permanent repair to a coupling as I overloaded it on Sunday with
5 whole wagons!

Well 4 wagons and the Type 2 Quarrymans coach/shed on wheels.

Shame you still haven't got the rapier running, I couldn't believe how small it was

I will get River Ankh running properly one day, I'm pretty certain that a replacement radio system will do the trick. At least when it was loaded on a wagon it did a full circuit without disaster!

Hopefully River Ankh will be able to run properly at the next running day on the 5th of June.

That's an interesting little machine, am I right in saying that it was built for export, India maybe? I might want to use different couplings after looking at that photo.

Yup, it's the one and only prototype Fowler railcar. No. 16072 of 1924 for, as you correctly surmise Indian Railways.
Note the driver sits 'side saddle' facing the camera.

It's a good video, it's good to see Offler giving a good account of himself, and poor old River Ankh's humiliation is available for all to see!

I'll try to make a video at the next running day, with River Ankh pardoning herself by actually working properly finally double heading with Offler.

I've made a start on the rail car, I'm keeping the electronics on this one simple by following IP's instructions. The livery is sort of TR based although I didn't think of the Talyllyn until after finishing the first panel.

Apart from the electrics, the rail bus is finished. It won't be winning any awards, but for half price I can't complain! It will be running at the next YMES running day, either under her own power or been hauled by Offler or River Ankh. Normally I would paint the roof but I quite like it in white. Hopefully it'll be able to pull one of the open wagons, but as long as it can move itself I'll be happy considering the trouble River Ankh has given me!

I'm not too sure what to do about this, do I keep it as it looks a bit like a water leak or do I re-do it as it is a fairly major blemish?
