A garden railway in cold weather

Hi,
This morning it was -4.2C in still air in our garden in old South Wales.
And there was a lot of frost.
Over winter I usually service my locomotives for use in the summer and I had a Cracker to check out.
Well it managed 1 lap. Having melted the frost on its first pass the water produced froze by the time it finished its first run around so it just stayed there with its wheels spinning.

I like it a lot
Might be cold but with a track like that no reason for not getting outside

I was wondering what to do with my 'proposed' garden line - now I know, keep it simple.
Thank's for the inspiration, and it's only 3deg here (south Oxfordshire) but I am a bit of a 'wimp' this time of year

I tried running a train today, and that also struggled such was the cold!

Pretty cold, and thats getting towards the temperatures of when i last ran in the snow (-7 max daytime temperature if i remember correctly!
) i couldn't leave the edrig without a fire lit for more than 1 minute literally otherwise the gas would start to freeze up etc and cause all sorts of problems

It wasn't quite as cold up here but I ran my Countess as it's manual control so no frozen fingers on RC gear moments. Took a while for the gas to settle down but ran fine after that with 14 on.
