Hello,
I spent Easter Monday having a lot of fun, in the morning I did some extra preseving of the wooden timbers purchased on Saturday and began marking up and knocking my fence posts in to the ground, although I was determined to have round ones, square ones had to do otherwise it would of been a lot more work. With help from my father the posts were knocked in and levelled out. While I was wolfing down my lunch a friend off the railway came round and said if I fancied going on the 3:00pm express train to Tan-Y-Bwlch. When we returned from this delightful experience my friend and I screwed the two planks together and attached to the fence posts. Job done, all I need do now is purchase some track at Stoneleigh and lay it in time for Laalratty's visit at the end of next week.


The full length of the extension, even showing how much damage has been done to the lawn, we hope to get a pathway of sorts in soon.


Note that the bufferstop is already in place.

That's progressing well William.

Your damaged lawn backs up my thoughts for my railway, whenever it gets built. I was originally going to have a lawn on the inside of the circuit, but have now decided that there will be some small paving slabs next to the raised flowerbed to prevent damage like yours, particularly in a wet Scotland.

On Monday I layed the loop, using some flat-bottomed points purchased for £20 each at Stoneleigh, I've had to grind the foot of the rail a bit in order for it to accept PECO fishplates, but it saved me £20, and they're more 'authentic'! Because of the small garden, and large point radius , the loop is rather small, but I can fit the standard passenger set in there so all is good . You may notice that I've begun on the platform edge, because of where we live a large amount of slate surfaces and this was stuck down, thankfully you can paint over the horrible white runs!

Looks great, those points look very nice, just make sure that the sleepers don't rot, or set on fire........

Meh, you could smell his creosote from a mile off!!!! rofl

Ahhh, nothing like the smell of creosote in the morning
