Aswell as Mr Bond I have also been thinking about what to build for the next show. I have managed to get some drawings for it and will be starting as soon as possible (only really 3 months to go!).I have to say I'm doing this as a challenge, the finished entry will be much too big for general use on all but the garden lines with massive curves. It will be made using plasticard for the body as the prototype is made of steel. I'll leave you to guess what I'm making based on that and the fact that my interests lie in the F&WHR.

heres a couple of ideas ....

the old WHR Track laying crane (would be an interesting model and might have some use laying peco set track!)

The rail bolster waggon, it something that is really long!

Damn it! I wanted to have a go at that one day! good idea if it is thought and it is the longest peice of coaching stock we have i think. look foreward to seeing some progress if it is this!

You could make it totally authentic by having the frame too narrow so that track panels cannot pass through it flat and have to be tipped at an angle.

And just like the real thing, it will be useless for laying curves. My recollection of the WHR is that there is not much straight track on it...!

You got it! And yes that was why I was asking for pictures of it and why I wanted to know where to get the transfers from. Yes, Mr Bond we are still in the junior catagory together (Is this the last year?)
Overall this thing scales out at 732m long! My FR stuff struggles to go around alot of things so this carriage is probably going to be sat on the shelf for most of the time or eventually sold to fund something else (that is what usually happens when I don't use things

Just to clarify the coach that I will be building is 'Glaslyn' and not 'Bodysgallen'.

Now I look forward to seeing this develop.... Something that could be absolutely stunning. The end glazing will be a challenge!
As a side note, somebody a few years ago got a highly commended in the MOTY IMP category (when it was still for models using IMP parts) with a model of Bodysgallen

I have just got back from Warley show (running my stuff on Port Able the 45mm layout that was at stoneleigh) and I have heard that a certain supplier is producing Glaslyn as a kit and it will be out before stoneleigh next year. Typical isnt it!

however I highley doubt it will be to scale.

I wouldnt worry Lewis scale models seem to be in greater demand at the moment. at elsecar there was quite a few people asking Ivan to produce scale models as most of his stuff is made with a rubber rule.

suppose i can, he didnt say keep it a secret! yes its Ivan at IP and yes it most probably wont be to scale but none the less its annoying as it wont be as unique as you first thought it might be!

Exactly, and one of the reasons for choosing that coach was because I didn't think that there would be a chance of anyone making a kit, still might have a go though.

i wouldnt let it put you off as IP's wont be to scale! the only thing I would say is that you would have to go to town on the detail. if you can produce a model that is second only to the real thing then it will be worth it and from what i have seen of your modelling i wouldnt put it past you
