Last night, I had a word with my mum, and I've made a breakthrough. She says that I can buy an Edrig , but I have to raise the money first. So I've got a couple of questions. One, where can I get a Edrig as cheap as possible. Two, has anyone got any ideas on how I'm going to raise £300 plus?

I'd too love to buy your engine penrhynpwr, and I've got the money.

Must have been a great party to spend all that money!

My best advice would be to get it from PPS, as they have it in stock, and if u want R/C (which i doubt u will but...) fit it yourself as I STILL HAVE NOT GOT MINE!!! DAM U KERNOW MODEL RAIL!!!
I expect u will have raised the money, and bought yours before mine arrives!!!

Track Shack on the Isle of Man have exceptional customer service, at a good price ( www.track-shack.com ), postage on these locos is around £15 where ever you go.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll probley be able to get my Edrig in about 6 months time, hopfully.

Oh, and one more thing. On ebay at the moment, there's an Accucraft 'Caradoc' for sale at £370 .

What colour Edrig will you be getting?

may be a chance there for a caradoc! The price I paid for a R/C Edrig, i cud of bought a mortimer manual!

Fitting the radio to my Caradoc caused a lot of bad thoughts to cross my mind at the time, but that was probely down to plain rushing to get the job done. Oh yes, if anyone does fit radio to an accucraft engine, put the aerial in the dome, soldering it to the inside (on my caradoc there was a little screw on the insde to solder the aerial to)

Yeah had me puzzled untill I got the radio wire in one hand, the dome in the other and put 2 and 2 together!
I even hadn't realised when a friend showed me his Wrekin with the aerial in the dome

I'm going to try and get a red Edrig, since my line is set in the 1950's during the BR years. However, I've did some maths, and I've worked out it's going to take a year for me to save up for one.

Thats a pitty (the year saving up) , I would try and get as much money as possible, obvisley without resorting to crime!
Should give you plenty of time to think about improvements though, I throughly recommend Tag Gortons book "live steam workshop"

I thought the stud was there just to hold the dome on.

Here, I've been sufing the internet lokking for accucraft dealers in the uk, and a found this one on the Channel islands. http://www.accu-craft.co.uk.

They sell accucraft products cheaper than one any other site I've been on(apart from ebay).

You need to remember that anything over £17.99 from the Channel Islands is liable for VAT, and if it is sent via the Royal Mail then they will charge you a fee on top of this duty to collect the duty charged as well. You take the chance of not being charged this VAT.

So when comparing the prices from the Channel Islands you must take this into account.

The Channel Islands are not part of the UK, and in fact are not in the EU either.

And here is what it says in the small print on that webiste: -

As ever, please note that these prices do NOT include any element of VAT/TVA or shipping, you should make allowance for whatever duty rates your local customs office might inflict.

We inquired with him, and he doesn't keep the narrow gauge locos in stock, he orders them in especially.

Oh, so its best to stick to dealers on the mainland then. (Are you sure that the channel islands aren't part of the UK CCairns? I always throught they were).
