Specifically the wide radius clockwork points... yes I know the switching mechanism etc leaves a bit to be desired, but has anyone tried them with live steam- Accucraft "generic" 0-4-0T's- and how do the engines cope with them? Thinking in terms of flange depth and radius mostly here- I'm not actually sure what the radius is.

If it works, I'm thinking of a dock diorama on a handful of 4'x2' boards that I can set up on the drive at home. Mostly battery power but it'd be nice to use the steam engine too. Inset track would hide the lack of proper sleeper and rail profile.

Well I've worked out that they are 2ft radius, i.e. the same as LGB R1 which I know an Edrig will cope with (albeit slowly). So I guess it's just a matter of rail profile and the "frog"- seeing as the Hornby clockwork 0 gauge is hardly finescale wheel profile it should be OK. I'll try it and see I suppose, it can always go back on eBay if all else fails.

I run on Guage 1 track and have no problems. LGB stuff however can not run on it as the flanges are too deep but thats not a problem for me!

Ahh, that's Maxi though isn't it? Much finer scale stuff.

I've no idea what the equivalent code size is (e.g. code 100 = 00 gauge common or garden size rail profile IIRC) for the Hornby 0 gauge but I'm hoping it'll be roughly the same as the Peco SM32 track.

I run LGB wagons, but regauged to 32mm with Accucraft wheelsets (and a bit of bodgery). I can play around with wagon wheel profiles (I've only got a handful anyway) but I'm stuck with the wheels on Edrig so I guess that's the defining feature.

I know anything bigger than an 0-4-0 is out but it'd be nice to run some locos through. That said, Lady Anne is supposed to be OK on LGB R1 so you never know...

From what I remember Hornby clockwork track has a much larger rail profile than SM32 track.

I'm sure with a little enginuety you can mix and match!

Not even that fussed about being able to mix and match- being a dockyard setting it'll all be straights and fixed curves anyway, the Hornby stuff is so cheap that I'm more than happy to use just that!

Good news that the profile is bigger than SM32 Peco, ta Billy Don't mind if it's chunkier, just don't want it to be any smaller.

I'm annoyed, just missed (by about 20 seconds) an auction for some 4 points and a load of track local to me, went for £12- odd... etc etc!

For sidings for trucks Old O tinplate is fine...you will have to oil it or paint it.....better try mamod

To run the 16mm wheels sets should be ok, or they were when we started....but if you run tinplate Hornby or corse O gauge on SM32...the peco stuff is too low a profile and the wheels clip the chairs, but is ok on tenmille SM32 track and old corse scale track (Bonds, Leeds BL etc)

It's for inside, so rust isn't an issue. Won't be using any 0 scale stock or wheelsets, just the track.

It's so cheap I intend to just try it and see what happens! Can also see if I can turn the points into a more realistic representation of stub points, but that's all in the future. Really I just want something to chuck on the floor and play with for now!
